Sea Cloud Sells River-Cruise Vessel
German river-cruise line Sea Cloud Cruises is pulling out of the market to concentrate on its two ocean-going vessels in 2015.
The beautiful yacht-style cruiser River Cloud II is being sold off, and the company will instead focus just on its pair of classic ships Sea Cloud and Sea Cloud II.
River Cloud II, which currently operates on the Rhine and Danube from April to October, will be handed over to an as-yet unnamed buyer at the end of the 2014 season, with Sea Cloud Cruises saying only that the vessel will leave the predominantly German market.
The company cites growing competition in the river-cruise market, while the pair of ocean-going windjammers, which are still sailed traditionally by hand, continue to enjoy a market niche in ocean cruises.
