Oct 29.- River cruising’s unprecedented growth continues to be good news for lines looking to bring in new ships, and the latest to step up with a mixture of new vessels and itineraries is AmaWaterways.
By the end of 2014, AMA will have 18 ships sailing in more than 20 countries on waterways including the Rhine, Seine, Danube, Main, Rhone, Douro and Moselle in Europe, as well as the waterways of Russia and further afield.
The two new vessels will beAmaSonata and AmaReina, sisters to the popular, 164-passenger AmaPrima and AmaCerto. Both will feature twin balcony staterooms and suites, Chaîne des Rôtisseurs culinary creations, complimentary fine wine and beer at lunch and dinner, multiple dining venues, a heated pool with swim-up bar, massage and beauty salon, fitness centre, free Internet and Infotainment in every stateroom and a fleet of bicycles for guests to enjoy.
AmaSonata (above) will travel the Danube and Rhine Rivers on seven itineraries, while AmaReina will be dedicated to the Enchanting Rhine seven-night itinerary, with prices for the latter from £1,849 departing November 9.
Two new features being added to the European ships next year will be a Mozart Café, in the style of a traditional Viennese coffee shop, and an Erlebnis Restaurant, offering a superb tasting menu in intimate surroundings, while more inclusive drinks offerings will also be introduced.
Limited Edition Tours are a new collection of shore excursions with a specific focus. From culinary-themed tours exploring regional specialties to guided bike tours, these complimentary excursions are ideal for guests seeking an alternative to AmaWaterways’ regularly scheduled guided city tour in each port of call.
AmaWaterways will also repeat many of its popular theme cruises in 2014, including Jewish Heritage, culinary and wine themed cruising, adding several new departures, notably a Chocolate Connoisseurs cruise on the Danube, from Vilshofen to Budapest, and a Knitting New Year voyage in December 2014 to showcase the latest in luxury yarns and classes and forums on fashion trends, patterns and techniques.
