River-Cruise Gold List?
Readers of the luxury American publication Conde Nast Traveler have rated the riverboats of Grand Circle as their 'gold standard' for the second year in a row.
The magazine's annual Gold List for 2014 rates Grand Circle ahead of Tauck, Viking, Uniworld and Vantage in their top 5, with Grand Circle earning 95.2% in reader satisfaction, with their MS Provence (above) earning the highest marks of the fleet at 97.7%.
The other four companies rated 93.3, 92.7, 91.9 and 89.9.
But, while Grand Circle would certainly be worthy winners in most instances, we do wonder about the absence of a number of the other leading lines, notably APT, Scenic and Luftner, all of whom boast excellent products. Like many reader awards, it probably says more about Conde Nast readers than the river cruise lines themselves.
So, if we open it up to reeaders of a specialist forum like here at River Cruises Europe, what do people think? Would Grand Circle get your vote? Or Tauck, or Viking or Uniworld?
